At Edison Next, we continue to advance our commitment to energy efficiency and the enhancement of our historical heritage through innovative solutions. In this context, we are developing a new project to refurbish and replace the architectural lighting system of the Torre del Oro and the Archivo de Indias, two of the most iconic landmarks in the city of Seville.
The project involves the complete renovation of the current lighting systems of both monuments, replacing them with a new high-performance solution based on state-of-the-art LED technology. This intervention will not only improve the efficiency of the lighting installations, but will also open up new ways to experience and showcase these historic spaces.
One of the most notable aspects of our intervention is the incorporation of RGB projectors with color-changing capabilities, enabling the lighting of the monuments to be adapted to different contexts and needs. Thanks to this technology, it will be possible to adjust light tones—from warm to cool whites—as well as to create dynamic environments through the use of vivid colors and tailored lighting compositions.
This will facilitate the commemoration of significant dates and special events, offering new visual perspectives that were previously not possible.
Beyond the aesthetic component, our proposal represents a significant step forward in terms of sustainability. The new solution will reduce energy consumption by approximately 44% compared to the current system, resulting in an estimated reduction of around 28 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
In this way, we actively contribute to reducing environmental impact—without compromising lighting quality or functionality, but rather enhancing both.
Thanks to our expertise, we have also managed to reduce the initial project budget, which was originally estimated at €385,000. This optimization ensures maximum efficiency in the execution of the project while maintaining high performance standards.
This approach reinforces our ability to deliver solutions that combine technological innovation, sustainability and economic viability.
With this new project, Edison Next Spain further consolidates its position as one of the leading players in the energy transformation and modernization of infrastructure and heritage assets in Spain, integrating smart technologies into high-value historical environments.
Lighting is no longer just a functional element—it has become a powerful tool to enhance the urban experience for residents and visitors, strengthen cultural identity, and move towards more efficient and sustainable energy management models.
