Edison Next Spain (a subsidiary of the energy group EDF) has established itself as one of the leading drivers of bespoke energy efficiency projects in Andalusian industry, having managed 27.7 GWh out of the 42 GWh issued in the region in 2025. This represents nearly two-thirds of the total energy savings achieved through this type of initiative, reflecting the company’s strong leadership in the region.
Bespoke projects are highly complex technical initiatives, specifically designed for each production process and tailored to the unique characteristics of each industrial facility. Unlike standardized measures, these projects require a detailed analysis of operations, precise integration into existing systems, and comprehensive management to maximize verified savings.
In this field, Edison Next has supported leading clients across sectors such as agri-food, chemicals, glass and steel. Its role spans the entire project lifecycle, from identifying efficiency opportunities within operations, to implementing energy-saving measures, and through to verification, certification and monetization of the corresponding Energy Efficiency Certificates (EECs), acting as an energy partner throughout the process.
The implementation of the Energy Efficiency Certificates (EEC) scheme has been one of the key drivers behind the development of these initiatives. This mechanism, promoted by MITECO and managed by the Regional Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Andalusian Government, enables verified energy savings to be converted into an additional economic return, improving project profitability and reducing the investment burden faced by companies and organizations.
For Andalusian industry, EECs have become a decisive incentive, significantly accelerating the deployment of energy efficiency measures. From an institutional perspective, EECs also contribute to achieving national energy savings targets, strengthening public-private collaboration as a key lever for advancing the energy transition and enhancing industrial competitiveness.
With these results, Edison Next consolidates its position in 2025 as a key player in one of Spain’s most promising regions for the development of industrial energy efficiency projects, while preparing for further investments in the region in 2026.
